MainCouncilmanRichardClarkOn May 1, 2014, City Council Member, Richard Clark visited our River City Science Academy to meet with Mr. Oz and Mr. Sel to tour the school and tell us more about who he is. Clark was elected into the City Council in 2005 for District 3, then in 2008-2009 he served as the Council Vice President. By the term of 2009 to 2010 he even served as President of the City Council. It was great meeting with him and talking about the importance of education. Once again, RCSA received positive feedback about how we provide an education and good environment for you students. We would like to thank Richard Clark for visiting our school.

MainGaryChartrandRiver City Science Academy welcomed another visitor to the school, chairman of the State Board of Education, Gary Chartrand. We greeted him and gave him a tour of our school so he could see what River City Science Academy is all about. He is actually a big advocate for charter schools and was quite impressed with what he saw of the school. Later, Rocket Productions had interviewed him for a brief moment where he was asked questions about what he does, how important education is, and what advice he had for our seniors who are soon graduating. Chartrand talked about how he is works on making decisions with other members of the Board of Education, is executive chairman of Acosta, and has even written a book. He gave a little insight into his book when giving our seniors advice, saying that if you never do anything that scares you then you will never grow. We thank Gary Chartrand for helping us mark another day in history and sharing his story with us.

Mr. Bill Gulliford visited RCSAOn March 4, 2014, River City Science Academy was joined by president of the Jacksonville City Council, Bill Gulliford. Gulliford has been a member of the council, representing District 13 since 2011. He also had been mayor of Atlantic Beach serving a term from 1988 to 1993. We gladly invited him to visit our school to give him the opportunity to get to know RCSA. He toured the school alongside our principal, Mr. Ozan, and our public relations manager, Mr. Sel in which he was able to get a view of some of our classrooms and really see what makes our school so special. Traditionally, after enjoying breakfast, Gulliford was interviewed by Rocketfuel productions that way others could get a glimpse on what he does. He was asked about his position as President of the Council and where he sees himself in the future. He responded by describing this busy, but worthwhile position where he gets to really help out the community and make sure things get done. It was great having the opportunity to welcome another significant visitor to our school. Thank you, Bill Gulliford!
